Sister Marichui Bringas, C.C.V.I.

What roles do you currently play in vocation ministry?

I’m vocation director of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and a member of NRVC’s board.

How long have you been involved in this ministry?

I was in vocation ministry in Mexico for 14 years part time and four years full time. Here in the U.S. I’ve been working almost 6 years full time.

Are you part of a team ?

I am coordinating the team of vocation promoters, sisters working in Mexico, Peru, and the U.S., all of them part time.

What has membership in the NRVC been like for you?

I love being part of NRVC. It has helped me to be trained in the American cultural environment. I have taken courses that have helped me to better serve. NRVC has also helped me get involved with groups and associations, especially with meeting and networking with other vocation directors. Above all it is a blessing to belong to such a welcoming organization where we share the same interests!

What has ministry been like for you during the pandemic?

It impelled me to use technology creatively to be close to young people. I have been able to have virtual activities such as retreats, Liturgy of the Hours, rosaries, the Way of the Cross, and vocational accompaniment. Virtual technology also helped me to be close with the discerners’ families.

Would you like to share a "fun fact" about yourself?

Since childhood, I have liked climbing mountains and cycling, but I never imagined having the strength for rappelling (rock climbing). However, that happened when I was working at the University Of Monterrey, Mexico.
