We are a strong, high-functioning, work group that trusts and challenges one another and engages directly with our members. Our accountability is to our members, our board of directors, our benefactors, and our personal consciences.  The NRVC Annual Report provides a rich narrative of our work on behalf of  members, donors, discerners, religious institutes, the Catholic Church, and the world.

Marge Argyelan   Marge Argyelan
director of database administration 

  • Oversees registrations, including membership, workshops, and events; and assists members with access to resources and benefits, including Misericordia grant applications.
  • Maintains the membership databases, creating protocols to insure data integrity and safety. 
  • Liaison to website services and Governance Committee

Marge joined the NRVC team in April of 2015. She has served in the nonprofit sector most of her career, either providing direct service or in an adminstrative capacity. Marge earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration from Indiana University and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University in Chicago. Prior to coming to NRVC, Marge worked at St. Gertrude Parish in Chicago as Director of Parish Management and Facilities. An active Catholic, Marge lives on the northside of Chicago with her husband.

  • Liaison to all major collaborators, USCCB-CCLV, Member Area Coordinators, and serves as ex officio, non-voting member of the National Board.
  • Cultivates member engagement by planning and implementing professional workshops, programs, and resources.
  • Provides consultation and presentations on assessment, promotion, and research to members, religious leadership, institutes, and organizations.

Sister Debbie joined the NRVC team in August 2011. A Sister of Saints Cyril and Methodius, she is also serving on her congregational leadership team.  She previously served as vocation director for her congregation and for the Diocese of Harrisburg, Office of Vocations. She has ministerial experience in pastoral care, youth ministry, college campus ministry, and immigration advocacy. Sister Debbie holds a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University of Chicago. She focused her research on the weariness of women religious in promoting vocations to religious life. 

MaureMaureen Ceteraen Cetera
director of finance and operations

  • Safeguards and manages the assets of the NRVC.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining the structure and financial model needed to sustain and grow the organization.
  • Acts on behalf of the organization for financial and contractual purposes. 

Maureen joined the NRVC team in August 2016. Her 30 years of experience with Church finance and accounting include positions with the Archdiocese of Chicago as Accounting Manager, Budget Manager, and Financial Analyst; Business Manager at Old Saint Patrick's Church; and Office Administrator for the NALM. Maureen’s degrees include an undergraduate degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MBA from Saint Xavier University, and Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Catholic Theological Union. She serves the Archdiocese of Chicago as a lay ecclesial minister and has 30-plus years of parish ministry experience. Maureen and her husband, Tom, have three children and are active in their parish, St. George.

  • Develops and implements strategies for membership appeals, retention, and renewals
  • Cultivates relationships with members providing consultation and assistance in accessing resources for vocation ministry
  • Liaison to publications, facilitates Misericordia Scholarships, and prepares event materials

Sister Charlene Herinckx, S.S.M.O. rejoined the NRVC team in January 2021 as the director of membership. She previously served as the NRVC Coordinator of Programs and Projects from 1999-2005. A Sister of St. Mary of Oregon, her ministry experience includes middle and high school teacher, school administrator, community vocation director, assistant Archdiocesan vocation director, and community leadership. Sr. Charlene holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Portland (Oregon) and a Master of School Administration from the University of San Francisco. Her hobbies include photography and card-making.                                                        

Phil Loftus Phil Loftus

  • Develops and implements strategies to raise funds for the NRVC.
  • Cultivates fruitful relationships with donors and collaborators for the advancement of the NRVC mission via grants, planned giving, and endowment monies.
  • Implements all development strategies and functions, provides consultation for marketing of these efforts.

Phil Loftus joined the NRVC team in 2018. He brings 30 years of marketing experience to his role of increasing donor awareness and support of NRVC.  Phil’s career has focused on launching and growing brands and leading innovative initiatives, including the “Got Milk?” campaign. Loftus holds a degree in economics from the University of Illinois, Champaign. He and his wife, Lorreto Kennedy, have three children and are active parishioners at St. Mary's of the Woods Parish in Chicago. Phil currently serves on the Board of Regents at St. Ignatius College Prep and VISION's Vocation Gateway Taskforce. He is also the Executive Director of the National Fund for Catholic Religious Vocations.

  • Manages the NRVC Newsletter and social media platforms; website contributor and editor
  • Manages HORIZON including editorial development, production, advertising sales and promotion, and subscriptions.
  • Liaison to Communicators for Women Religious

Carol Schuck Scheiber has been publications editor for NRVC since 1998. She edits HORIZON, the NRVC Focus on Ministry monthly newsletter, VISION Vocation Guide, and contributes to NRVC’s websites and social media. She also helps form communications strategies for NRVC. Carol has applied her expertise in communications to numerous nonprofits over the years. She has presented at communications workshops as part of the NRVC Summer Institute. She and her husband are parents to three young adults.  

Curtis C. Long Phil Loftus

  • Contracted for web services for 
  • Services include programming, maintainance, development, page design, security, data management, and troubleshooting
  • Provides technical support and training for the NRVC team leadership

Curtis C. Long is the chief executive officer of ideaPort LLC, contracted for web services for Curtis and his staff have managed and developed websites for NRVC through TrueQuest Communications since 2001. ideaPort LLC is a multifaceted web design and programming company focusing on creating/improving the online presence of small to mid-sized companies and organizations.

  • Directs all NRVC publishing initiatives for VISION.
  • Oversees editorial, advertising, marketing, and promotion of VISION Vocation Network. 
  • Fields article and advertising inquiries for VISION and discerner inquiries about religious life.
