I am by nature an optimist, which perhaps makes me well-suited for vocation ministry and its elusive “results.” Thus I am hopeful that the forthcoming synod on youth, faith, and vocational discernment will be a step toward a preferential option for the young (which does not decrease our preferential option for the poor).
