We are a strong, high-functioning, work group that trusts and challenges one another and engages directly with our members. Our accountability is to our members, our board of directors, our benefactors, and our personal consciences.  The NRVC Annual Report provides a rich narrative of our work on behalf of  members, donors, discerners, religious institutes, the Catholic Church, and the world.


Sr. Debbie Borneman, SS.C.M.

  • Acts as liaison to all major collaborators, USCCB-CCLV, Member Area Coordinators, and serves as ex officio, non-voting member of the National Board.
  • Cultivates member engagement by planning and implementing professional workshops, programs, and resources.
  • Provides consultation and presentations on assessment, promotion, and research to members, religious leadership, institutes, and organizations.

Sister Debbie began working for NRVC in August 2011. A Sister of Saints Cyril and Methodius, she served 10 years as vocation director for her congregation and is currently serving as second councilor on the SS.C.M. Leadership Team. She has ministerial experience in pastoral care, youth ministry, college campus ministry, immigration advocacy, and the Office of Vocations for the Diocese of Harrisburg. Sister Debbie has a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University of Chicago. She focused her research on the weariness of women religious in promoting vocations to religious life. 


Marge Argyelan   Marge Argyelan
director of membership

  • Oversees registrations, including membership, workshops, and events; and assists members with access to resources and benefits, including Misericordia grant applications.
  • Maintains the membership databases, creating protocols to insure data integrity and safety. 
  • Liaison to publications/website services.

Marge joined the NRVC staff in April of 2015. She has served in the nonprofit sector most of her career, either providing direct service or in an adminstrative capacity. Marge earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration from Indiana University and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University in Chicago. Prior to coming to NRVC, Marge worked at St. Gertrude Parish in Chicago as Director of Parish Management and Facilities. An active Catholic, Marge lives on the northside of Chicago with her husband.


MaureMaureen Ceteraen Cetera
director of finance and operations


  • Safeguards and manages the assets of the NRVC.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining the structure and financial model needed to sustain and grow the organization.
  • Acts on behalf of the organization for financial and contractual purposes. 

Maureen joined the NRVC staff in August 2016. Her 29 years of experience with church finance and accounting include positions with the Archdiocese of Chicago as Accounting Manager, Budget Manager, and Financial Analyst; Business Manager at Old Saint Patrick's Church in Chicago; and Office Administrator for the National Association for Lay Ministry. Maureen’s degrees include an undergraduate degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Master of Business Administration from Saint Xavier University, and Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Catholic Theological Union. She serves the Archdiocese of Chicago as a lay ecclesial minister and has 30-plus years of parish ministry experience, including finance, evangelization, stewardship, development, catechesis, youth ministry, adult faith formation, and women’s ministry. Maureen and her husband, Tom, have three children and live in Tinley Park where they are active in their home parish, St. George.


Phil Loftus Phil Loftus

  • Develops and implements strategies to raise funds for the NRVC.
  • Cultivates fruitful relationships with donors and collaborators for the advancement of the NRVC mission via grants, planned giving, and endowment monies.
  • Implements all development strategies and functions, provides consultation for marketing of these efforts.

Phil Loftus joined NRVC in 2018. He brings 30 years of marketing experience to his role of increasing donor awareness and support of NRVC.  Phil’s career has focused on launching and growing brands and leading innovative initiatives, including the “Got Milk?” campaign. Loftus holds a degree in economics from the University of Illinois, Champaign. He and his wife, Lorreto Kennedy, have three children and are active parishioners at St. Mary's of the Woods Parish in Chicago. Phil currently serves on the Board of Regents at St. Ignatius College Prep and VISION's Vocation Gateway Taskforce. He is also the Executive Director of the National Fund for Catholic Religious Vocations.



TrueQuest Communications

  • Directs all NRVC publishing initiatives, including NRVC Newsletter, Catalyst, HORIZON, and VISION.
  • Oversees editorial, advertising, marketing, and promotion of NRVC publications. 
  • Fields article and advertising inquiries for HORIZON or VISION and discerner inquiries about religious life.
