“I’m an off-the-charts extrovert,” says Mrs. Teri Iverson, vocation ministry coordinator for the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Dayton, Ohio. “I love building relationships and connecting with people in person at conferences and events.” She comes to vocation ministry after three decades in youth ministry.
Yes. The other team members are the director of initial formation, director of novices, director of temporary professed, and the congregational president. Besides my responsibilities with the sisters, I am also a coordinator (along with Sister Caryn Crook, O.S.F.) for NRVC’s Lake Erie/Ohio Valley Member Area.
It has been more beneficial to me than I can express. Without the Orientation for New Vocation ministers workshop that I attended a mere two months after I was hired, I would have been a ship sailing aimlessly about. That workshop gave me direction, tools for success, and a vast network of vocation ministers that I keep in contact with, bounce ideas off of, and collaborate with. NRVC’s biannual convocation (which I attended for the first time this past November) was a wealth of information, collaboration, and networking that continues to be invaluable to me.
Because I am still new to this ministry, my “technique” is looking to more seasoned vocation ministers to glean their best practices. There are so many wonderful people doing amazing things. I’d rather build on their successes than re-invent the wheel.
Cycling, traveling, reading, spending time with family.
