World Youth Day Krakow 2016

.

World Youth Day theme

The theme of the XXXI World Youth Day Krakow 2016 is: ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy’ (Mt 5:7). Our Holy Father Francis has chosen the fifth of the eight Beatitudes, given by Jesus in his Sermon on the Mount on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, to show the importance of the Beatitudes which are at the heart of Jesus’ teaching. In his first Sermon, Jesus presents us with eight examples of qualities that bring us closer to the Kingdom of God.

World Youth Day patrons

St. Faustina and John Paul II are the patrons of World Youth Day in Krakow. When in 1938 the 18-year-old Karol Wojtyła arrived in Krakow to begin his studies at Jagiellonian University, 33-year-old Sister Faustina lived in a Krakow Convent. She died on October 5, when Karol began his first semester of studies at the Faculty of Polish Studies. They never met, but Divine Providence tied their fates together in a particular way: it was in fact John Paul II who canonized Sr. Faustina and instituted the feast of Divine Mercy in the entire Church.

These two Saints of Krakow – the apostles of Divine Mercy – patron WYD in 2016. Their lives are examples for us of deep trust in Divine mercy, expressed in the words: Jesus, I Trust in You.

2016 - Join us for World Youth Day

July 25-31, Krakow, Poland

NRVC and VISION Vocation Network invite NRVC members to join them at World Youth Day (WYD) in Krakow, Poland, July 25-31, 2016.

Similar to World Youth Days in Madrid and Rio de Janeiro, NRVC and VISION Vocation Network will sponsor a vocation space at the English Language Pavilion. Spearheaded by the Knights of Columbus, NRVC joins Canadian Salt + Light TV and Family Rosary as one of the four major partners of this key WYD venue.

As an NRVC member, you and members of your congregation will be given at no cost priority access to participate in the Vocation Center in the English Language Pavilion. This center, which will be hosted by NRVC and VISION Vocation Match, will be in response to Pope Francis’ call to create a “culture of encounter” within the church.

Our goal is to provide a relaxed and comfortable space for individual pilgrims or groups “to encounter” in a more personal, informal way a vibrant presence of women and men religious. The unique space we have planned will provide you with many opportunities to speak with pilgrims about their faith, hopes, dreams, and vocations—be it to marriage, religious life, or priesthood.

It is estimated that approximately 45,000 pilgrims will be coming to Krakow from the United States, and we anticipate that many more pilgrims from other English-speaking countries will come through our doors as well.

2016 World Youth Day Vocation Cafe at English-speaking pavilion

Join NRVC in Krakow this July!

All NRVC members and members of their religious institutes are welcomed to the Vocation Café sponsored by NRVC at World Youth Day (WYD) in Krakow, Poland, this summer from July 25-30. NRVC has been working collaboratively with the Knights of Columbus, Canadian Salt + Light TV, and Holy Cross Family Ministries in hosting the English-language pavilion.

Since one of the primary themes of the pavilion is vocation, NRVC will provide a warm, inviting environment for pilgrims to meet and speak individually or in groups with a religious or priest. This is a wonderful opportunity to be present and to give witness to the vitality of religious life to young pilgrims from around the world!

Please note that anyone who works in the Vocation Café must be registered as a WYD pilgrim. No one without proper credentials will be admitted to the pavilion.

To register as a WYD pilgrim, please click here.

Also, to be clear, the Vocation Café is not the same as the official Vocations Center, which is traditionally featured at all World Youth Days. If you would like further information on how your religious institute may rent a booth at the Vocations Center, click here.

More concrete details about how to register for the Vocation Café, the program, and other pertinent information will be forthcoming.

UPDATE: Click here to sign up for times to be part of the NRVC's Vocation Korner at the Tauron Pavillion in Krakow.
