The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is a biennial conference sponsored by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM).  It is a three day high energy experience of prayer, community, and key note speakers for over 23,000 high school teens, parents, and their youth ministers from around the country.  The 2015 NCYC theme was Here I Am/Aqui Estoy Senor.  NCYC is the largest single gathering of Catholic teens in the United States and vocation ministers have been promoting vocations to religious life at NCYC since 2001.

In 2015, NRVC partnered with the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) to provide mentors for youths in its NCYC animator program.

Ten NRVC members were selected to assist with animator training at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana. These vocation ministers provided support and encouragement to young people who are trained to be animators at NCYC.

Animators are teens who lead prayer, song, and movement from the main stage during the NCYC conference. This new venture of having NRVC members connect with these young ministry leaders is another way to be present to young people and to promote vocations. NRVC members who served as mentors were:

  • Father Andy McAlpin, O.P.
  • Brother Michael Migacz, S.C.
  • Father Timothy Armbruster, C.P.P.S.
  • Father Matthew Allman, CSsR
  • Sister Belinda Monahan, O.S.B.
  • Sister Hannah Vanorny, O.S.B.
  • Sister Pat Connolly, D.C.
  • Sister Rebecca Tayag, S.S.N.D.
  • Sister Laurie Orman, R.S.M.
  • Sister Stephanie MacDonald, O.S.B.

Additional information about the NCYC animator program can be found here.
