The Mission of the National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC) reflects its committment to provide membership with educational opportunities, resources, and other supportive services that strengthen and enhance spiritual, professional and personal growth. Each year, NRVC provides various opportunities for professional growth though its comprehensive workshops and programs. It is essential for professional vocation ministers to keep updated in the trends, issues, skills, and best practices in the field of vocation ministry. NRVC recommends that all vocation ministers participate in ongoing educational opportunities to further develop their professional skills and competencies.
This year, NRVC is offering three workshops for professional development at its annual Summer Institute. Workshops are intended for vocation ministers, formation teams, seminary personnel, religious leadership, and others entrusted with the assessment of discerners and candidates. Workshops are open to NRVC members at a discounted rate and for non-members at an affordable price. Workshops are designed for those who wish to deepen their understanding of the complex theological, spiritual, psycho-sexual, ethical, and diversity issues often present in contemporary vocation ministry.
NRVC will also offer a Vocation Ambassador program within a new workshop, Share the Sacred. The Share the Sacred workshop will bring together vocation ministers, communicators, and young adult Catholics to create a collaborative communications strategic plan to promote religious vocations. This program requires an application to participate. For more information about the Vocation Ambassador program, click here.

These five factors, along with the NRVC Curriculum for Vocation Ministers, influence the workshop schedule so that we may consistently exceed our members' expectations for lifelong education and faith formation. While the message from the risen Christ to 'Come, follow me' has not changed in over two millennia, the methods used to promote vocations continue to evolve.

NRVC Director of Member Relations and Services
In his announcement of the Holy Year of Mercy, Pope Francis said, “No one can be excluded from the mercy of God . . . the Church is the house that welcomes all and refuses no one.” Because we at NRVC believe in what do, we want to welcome all—and refuse no one—to our mission of promoting religious life for the next generation.
The Misericordia Scholarship Fund is available for NRVC members due to the generosity of donations made by NRVC members. Scholarship funds can be applied to NRVC workshops, however they do not cover the cost of transportation, accommodations, meals, or personal expenses. If you would like to attend an NRVC workshop and need financial assistance, please contact our Director of Member Relations and Services, Sr. Deborah Marie Borneman, SS.C.M. at debbiesscm@nrvc.net.
